School-Based Services

CCD is the largest provider of school-based mental health services in the entire state of Delaware. Every day, our team supports children directly in their school environments, helping them manage emotional challenges where they spend much of their time. We collaborate with Delaware schools to deliver mental health support directly to students on-site.

1

Bringing Therapy to the Classroom

Many children struggle to access mental health services outside of school due to transportation, scheduling, or financial barriers. Our school-based program removes those obstacles by bringing trained therapists directly into the school building. Students receive therapy during the school day in a private, comfortable setting — no missed appointments, no long drives, and no stigma.

How Our Program Works

Our therapists are embedded within partner schools across Delaware, becoming a trusted part of the school community. Here's how the process works:

  • Schools partner with CCD to identify students who may benefit from mental health support
  • Parents or guardians provide consent and complete intake paperwork through the school counselor
  • A CCD therapist meets with the student regularly during the school day
  • Therapists collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to create a comprehensive support plan
  • Progress is tracked and shared with families to ensure meaningful outcomes

Training & Support for School Staff

Beyond direct student care, CCD provides training and workshops for school staff to help them understand and meet students' mental health needs. Our professional development sessions equip teachers, counselors, and administrators with practical tools to recognize signs of distress, create trauma-informed classrooms, and support students' emotional well-being throughout the school day.

5

Partnership with Families

We believe the best outcomes happen when school and home work together. Our therapists maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on progress and offering guidance on how to reinforce therapeutic gains at home. Family sessions can be arranged to strengthen the support system around each child.
